Sould we make just one thread for everyone to post fireworks shots in?
Or clutter up the board with them?
Just a thought.

It rained the whole freaking night here. So they canceled our fireworks show here in town. They're doing it tomorrow, so maybe I'll take the camera over with the tripod and try to get some good ones.

Meanwhile, here's my contribution to the thread.

Nothing special, I had my camera out for all of about 5 minutes. :)

It looks like she spelled "No" in response to the thread :p

I just got home from the show here. It was awesome!
One of the best fireworks displays I've ever seen.

3 bands performing, lots of food, overall - a great time.

I shot almost entirely on film tonight (only digital pictures I got were of the bands), so it'll be a while till I can post the results.

We were way too close... They were right on top of us, lol. (We were close to see the stage, didn't feel like moving for the fireworks display).

I didn't bring my tripod (left it in the truck...didn't want to lug it around all night), so I'll be interested to see my results, lol. I think I did pretty good though. I improvised.

(Shot a whole roll of Portra 160VC just on fireworks...)

Better too close than too far away - I'm going to need to crop out like 70% of my velvia shots D: but we'll see after I get it developed tomorrow.

The fireworks in Washington DC were pretty decent. Death Star fireworks are very cool and DC always has a large and long display - went through 1 and a half rolls of Velvia and ran out :(

The other night I decided to try a light writing pic. What can I say, my wife has some GREAT penmanship!

Just came back .... I setup my gears on the tripod by the river with no person in front of me. I am all ready ... then it started to rain. So I just put the gears back to my backpack and walked back to my car. :( Better luck next year I guess.

^^ Very cool...

everything shot in BULB. f14 ISO 100

Im happy with a few of them.

^Very nice pics, way to go on avoiding the smoke

lucky... I think most of the smoke stayed near the ground and behind the school that shot them off.

A police crusier decided to pull up right in front of where I set up to block traffic....... not impressed. I may have a couple more tomorrow out of this lot.

Nikon D700
20mm f/2.8 lens
F/10
6 seconds (I think this is one that I covered the lens for multiple explosions)
ISO 200

The Mudcats are doing another fireworks display after tomorrow nights game, I might have some more then too.

Ok, I guess that was a yes. :lmao:

Here are my favorites of favorites from my Flickr Set.
I took 174 pics. They all start looking the same after a while LOL.
I thought I had a tree barely in the frame, but it ruined a couple of what I thought were my best shots.

Kundalini, I like that shot with the crusier. Though, I could see, if that is in all your shots, it would be rather annoying.

03civicdx, Nice shots! So being your first time, what did you learn? I learned I want to be a little farther away.

Brett, at first I thought your wife spelled Butt. :lmao: Very cool effect with the sparklers, fuzzy dripping light. Very nice.

Mike, I LOVE your image. What a capture!

Thanks for kicking the thread off, tharmsen! Again, I'm going to have to try sparkler writing, looks fun.

went through 1 and a half rolls of Velvia and ran out :(

...Went through a roll of Portra 160VC, and a roll of Fuji PRO 160S.

After that, all I had was B&W. B&W fireworks just doesn't sound right...lol.
