Well it might be a lousy camera, but learning what it does and using it to it's best capabilities will go far.
You missed the focus on the flower and got the grass behind it in focus instead. Take half a second longer to think about what you are taking a picture of and what you need to do to get it.
Even a crappy camera will take great pictures if you learn to use it.
