A gloomy day shoot.

It wasn't the best lighting today with all the rain and clouds so I decided it was time to see how low a shutter speed I could hand hold the 500mm today.

The first one @ 1/100 at first looks like there is a blur to it. But on exploding it up it is not it is from a very shallow DoF. VERY GOOD! I am assuming you had the lens IS turned on,
Quite a good set and a nice exercise...should boost your confidence a wee bit, I'd say.

Yes the IS was on. Since this is my first lens with IS I am thoroughly impressed with it. If I had attempted this with the 400 f5.6 it'd be a shaky mess.

Not a chance I could handhold the 500. I got comfortable with the nikon I rented but even that felt heavy.

So happy to see the swans are back.

Nice shots as always. I'm assuming the Snowy's will be heading out soon?

Thank you and you'd be surprised how quickly you get used to shooting the 500.

First year tracking snowy's so I'm not sure when they leave but I'll keep shooting them as long as I can.
