Holy Cow, how do you get a photo in NY without a car or better yet, without a taxi in it!
I did the audio tour in March of the GCC. What a delight, will do it again this March too. Great place and history.

Regarding your reference to the Paul Strand photo - There is a big difference in perspective. The Paul Strand photo takes as its viewing midpoint, the massive windows/walls , with the viewer looking down on the little people below. Yours is viewing effectively at the pedestrian level, and looking up at the buildings. This humanizes your view, but makes Paul Strand viewer seem to be the "Big Brother" looking down on the "little people". The structure behind those people has no entry point for them, they appear to be excluded. In yours, there are multiple entrances which in effect allow the people to fit into those structures and to belong.

The building is massive, the people are stopped, the red light seemed sort of appropriate.

Yes, my very first thought was - it might be any year. Might be 50s or 60s or 40s.. And I did not realise why. Thought it was the architecture and the overall style of a photograph. But it is lack of cars, and the style just adds to it.. Very well done.

I am dumbfounded what street this is.
I thought I just walked down Park from 59th to my daughter's building at 34th but Park is two way.
Maybe this is Lexington?

Anyone help me?
