a hunting spider on the prowl

Comparatively a lumbering giant, I probably startled this fairly large arachnid, but that's ok, cos he (or she) startled me also, hehehe.

"Crikey !", I thought, "Look at the size of that thing !". So I got my camera out...

Looks like a Huntsman spider.. they do get large!

I didn't know that name, but they're also called wolf spiders, I think. As you probably know, they aren't web-spinners - they hunt their prey down (and move with unsettling alacrity !)
