I like the wave. I'm not sold on the arrangement of visual elements in the right of the frame. I would either want to see more of the outside of the pier to take my eye into the frame, or more toward the inside.

Good point. I was shooting more for the reflection of the pier in the sand and the little waves as they washed up the sand...

I was using the wave to direct the eye to the reflections of the pier pilings in the sand, perhaps too much concentration there and not enough to the rest of the pier. Conditions should be similar tomorrow and I just got the 14-28 in so can give a better coverage than with just the 28.

I love the colors, but I'm also not sold on the angle or composition.

Do you have other vantage points you shot this from? Perhaps shoot from underneath the pier to emphasize the reflection, or move to the left or right (50ft - 100ft - more?) to see if you can profile the reflection more. Until you mentioned the reflection, I missed it. I do love the contrast of the water to the sand. Beautiful colors. There's potential at this pier.

Love the sand and water color. I also missed the reflection. Maybe my eye was following the pier out into the water?
would like more detail in the pier. I do not know ow you do that though, I am still learning

I don't know CB, I'm having a hard time putting the elements of this one together

I like the reflections
I like the water color
I like the hazy horizon
I like the wave

I just can't seem to put them all together and say "Wow!"

I'm with the other guys, I do like this in terms of tone and colour but I have similar thoughts on the composition. It almost feels like two photos to me, one containing the wave and one of the peir. I'm wondering what it would have been like if you shot the peir in portrait, then you might have been able to concentrate more on the peir and the reflection
