Vertical would have been nice.. he is a vertical subject.

Face is very bright... hardly any detail in the skin at all... but some people like this type of shot. Again, don't care for the head chop! He looks "scrunched"!

Your watermark does not fit the mood of the photo at all. this is they I NEVER recommend flowery watermarks. If your going to watermark keep it simple.

Normally I'd say this should be portrait orientation, except in this case, landscape w/ the crop and the space to either side give it a bit more of a forelorn mood. Kindofa mugshot feeling to it.

I also think I'd rather see more of the facial details. I might try doing a darker exposure layer and selectively / transparently erase the face area to let it show through.

But also I think it works as it is.

I would agree with Charlie on the vertical. The picture is fine if you are going for the high key look. The watermark, just make it more transparent where it's not as noticable.

I like it. It's a definite look, and you've done a nice job with it.

The eyes look a bit freaky. I don't know if you isolated them for any sort of special consideration, but it LOOKS like you did, and then lavished an excess of special consideration of various sorts on them. They look like hyper-detailed hyper-sharp marbles of evil in a basically light and soft face.

The serious look is.. well, it's serious. The kid actually looks outright glum. That's neither good nor bad, it just is. Parents might not love it for a portrait, or they might -- sometimes your kid is as defined by their glum face as by anything else. Maybe this face hits all the right notes for the parents, maybe not. It's gonna be personal.

The child looks bored out of his mind. The horizontal composition, which directly causes his head to be lopped off, and which also directly leads to the the inclusion of dead space on the left, and that odd background element on the right, is just killing this as a good photo. I do not mind the child's expression at all...it looks very real, very genuine, very true-to-life. But the camera handling looks very unstudied, shall we say. And the logo, with the frilly script and the pink flowers...ugh...the logo and its tenor and color and girly-ness all combined,together, well all of that annoyance just "blows up" the reality of the shot...the pink flowers and the white script overlayed on a somber monotone rendering...ouch...it makes it almost ALL about "you", and not about the subject of the photo.
