In the last week of August I got into researching and finding Monarch caterpillars. I only found 3 however, but I already raised and released 2 of them.
The image attached is the last photo I got before the 1st butterfly I released flew up and around a mature oak tree. It was a moment of pure happiness, and sadness. I was proud of myself for successfully helping this butterfly grow from a caterpillar, ensuring he had enough food to eat until then.
The sadness was obvious, letting him go without being able to help him anymore was the hard part. I'll never forget that moment, and I wanted to share the photo with everyone.
Anybody else take care of monarchs?
