A month on the big island and a dead camera.

Well my sony point and shoot camera that has lasted me about 4 years finally died on my month long "vacation" to the big island. I did manage to get a couple good photos though for a point and shoot. I will be replacing the deceased sony dsc-w1 with a rugged olympus 1030w in black

Very nice pics there. I love #2, the way the bright sky almost whites out all background elements gives you a real feeling that you're there. #4 is good as well, but I think it would've been better with a smaller aperture.

And, of course, the sunset pics are great. Well done!

b/w conversion with a little P&P would make for a very powerful shot

#1 - need a better crop - try and get that house shadow out at the bottom left corner and try and photoshop the light poles out (if you can, that's a nit pick comment). Otherwise it's a very nice shot.

#3 is the best of the group.

I am not that good with post processing right now so cropping and little changing of the colors is about the extent of my current abilities.
