I tried to get some shots of a landing jet today and I just couldn't nail the focus... I think it was because the thing was moving to damned fast and was moving out of the focus point. This was @ 300mm, ISO 100, 1/1000 second, f/5.6:

It's just not as sharp as it should be... any input?

Thanks!

What AF mode were you in? Servo would probably be best for something like this...something that will track the plane.

I was in the One Shot mode... honestly, I haven't played with the different modes yet and after rereading the manual just now... yeah, that probably would have been the ticket! Cool beans. Thanks.

Yep definitely put it on the continuous focus. It's great for anything moving when you're going to shoot off a little burst. Can't wait to see some cool plane pics! GL

Usually, I just forget that I have anything other than one-shot...lol.

I get home, and then I'm like - "Why didn't I switch to servo...?"

Same for ISO...I forget that I can change it a lot...
