Blackrose, I really like this shot! (I mean the first one you posted, not the other edits.)
It's got an Alice in Wonderland feel, well done. And it's IMO the best shot that I've seen from you yet.

My only suggestion is to pull back the contrast just a bit, the deer have lost a bit of detail in their backs, but other than that I personally wouldn't change anything else. As Bitter said, the lamp serves to tie the two parts of the shot (deer & benches) together, it works well as it is.

Hmmmmm I really like the color too. Both are interesting. I gotta say I think I may like the color more. I really get the Alice in wonderland feel from it more so then the bw

I like this more being less blurry. I goes good with the other two showing the building and the animals from ground level to make a set. Good Work

That lamp was part of a group of three white shapes in the upper area.

It was also a part of three black shapes in the lower area.

The lamp tied the two areas together crossing through the big white arch!

This says to me you didn't have any of that in mind when clicking the shutter. So, I have to ask. What made you take this picture?

Bitter glances off something pretty key... don't listen to people on forums.

If you hang out at TPF long enough you can fall into this trap of doing things the way the TPF community at large thinks you should do them... and that is not necessarily "right", nor is it necessarily in line with your artistic leanings. You need to do what you feel is right, then try to learn from how people react. Learning from how people react doesn't mean altering what you're doing... necessarily. It just means understanding better what you did, why you did it, and how YOU might like to do it differently next time.

Thanks. The reason I think I am so dependant on what people say is I am somewhat on my own. I don't really know photographers. I mean I know people with DSLRs that love taking photographs, but none that have really studied. I am in school for photography, but so far the course has been on equipment, photography terminology etc we haven't gotten down the heart of it it yet. But that starts after the holidays when schools start again. I'm starting the lessons on image design, composition, graded projects, theory and so on. So hopefully when I get started on the study of creating photos I'll be a bit more sure of myself and judge more for myself. I'm just trying to get a jumpstart.
