A trip to Scarborough

[Bend The Light]

I'm not an HDR fan generally, but took some bracketed shots while in scarborough to have another go...if I don't keep experimenting, i might stagnate, eh?

What do you think of these?

Great shot. The noise (grains) in the picture really bring out the vintage look.

Thanks. I was hoping to get that kind of feel. I have done HDR before and the sky always bothers me, but here (at least in the first two) it works, I think.

yes, it is quite grungy...and I suppose Scarborough can have that feel, especially if you knew it as a kid, like I did.

I want to comment on the first 2 pictures.
i am not a huge fan of hdr as well, but it sometimes has an appealing feeling when not overdone.

I like the processing in the first image, you seem to have processed to my taste of "hdr sweetspot" . Besides that i like how you blended the colors the tones and the grain.
you know what would have been great.. if you could have asked those people to move their cars while you took the picture.

To me the composition stands out in the 2nd image. The building on the right seems a bit over processed for my taste, but still overall looks very good.

Thanks for the crit...I lioke the more subdued and grimy look of the first, but the sky and sea in the second. The building on the right on the second is lit quite a bit and so shows up like it does. It does fit the building and it's use, to my mind.

3 exposures, all at 1/60...f2.2, f3.5. f5.6. Blende in Nik HDR Efex Pro.

So, I'm a huge fan of #2. As a photograph, this is superb. Stylistically, the processing works well. The composition is great as well. Well done.

#1 I believe the noise in the sky detracts from the overall image.

#3 and #4 are not in the same league as the first two.
