So, I'm a huge fan of #2. As a photograph, this is superb. Stylistically, the processing works well. The composition is great as well. Well done.

#1 I believe the noise in the sky detracts from the overall image.

#3 and #4 are not in the same league as the first two.

You should change change shutter speed, not aperture when doing HDR. I like them but would like to see less noise.

Yes, I would normally have done so. But I was playiong with Auto-ISO on my new 40D and had it set to Tv to see how it'd work. Was a curiosity, basically.
Do you think the three separate apertures would have created noise in the sky? Or is that just a result of the processing?

As it goes, many people prefer them with the noise, but each to his own.
