Took a side trip to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in GA at 4783'. It was also the coolest spot in GA, at 75 degrees with a nice breeze. The distance was only a few miles from us, but pretty much straight up with one curve after another. At 15 mph most of the way, kind of forced you to enjoy the view.
From the parking lot we only thought we were on top of the mountain. Fortunately they had a shuttle, which we rode up, and walked back down. Going down was bad enough, would have never made it up the mountain on foot.
Even though there was a lot of haze everywhere, the view from above was worth the trip. A couple of panoramas that don't really do it justice. They said on a better day you could see Clingman's Dome in Tn, and Atlanta. Unfortunately today wasn't it, we were in the clouds at times, and watching rain showers below us in the valley at times. Kind of cool.
