How close to that devilish creature were you? When they fly towards me I run!

Nice sharp images! If it weren't for that big white thing in #2, that would be my fav. The pose is epic! #1 is a close second (which makes it my fav).

Are these cropped much, or did actually fill the frame with that little thing with your setup?

Fantastic! I am going to invest in a decent macro lens for close-up shots like these and my wife's butterflies.

Awesome! Great job!

Excellent shots, Ron! Those shiny carapaces are hard to shoot without getting nasty reflections.... nicely done. Cloudy day? Shade?

Thanks folks.

How close to that devilish creature were you? In pic #2, the subject was about 4" (10cm) from the lens. It was rather lethargic in the morning cool. I used the flip out screen & hand held for these shots.

I edited the OP to indicate the cropping. I had another "big white thing" in #3 that I cropped out.

These were taken on the balcony railing in shade.

nice! I would kick up the color / saturation / contrast up a notch.... these wasps are probably the typical BRIGHT yellow and black?? They are almost monochromatic in the pictures....

I actually did but these were shot in the shade on an overcast morning so one cannot expect the colours to pop. Dull light = dull colours.
