I think they're way too close and head chopped in every shot. I know people go back and forth on that. I know some famous pros that are known for chopping heads, but I still personally don't like it.

Besides that, exposure looks nice.

thanks MK3Brent......under normal circumstances im not one who favours the head chop either..........it just happened with these and the 'im cooperating' time with young miss is only short and sweet........

o, lovely expressions... i desired a bit more zoom out to include her head

Regards :D

I really like #2. The shot looks less forced and it emphasizes her beautiful eyes.

Except (maybe) for #2, they all feel like snapshots because of the tight cropping (chopped heads), half-complete expressions, and weak compositions. I don't feel any sense of intention other than "here's a picture of a child acting goofy."

Hi Jaemie.....thanks for your feedback also......can you explain what you mean by 'half complete expressions......and also weak compositions?

#2 is the only one I would have posted, as it is the only one with a more or less normal expression. The others are not flattering to the subject, little girl or not. And her expression is really the only thing that changed from photo to photo. EXIF Data: F8 1/160 ISO200 135mmFL

The lighting appears identical for each shot.. so critiquing just #2 makes sense. You have strong shadowing (a bit too much, IMO) on camera right... and a bit of fill would have softened that. #2 also appears to be the sharpest of the bunch... and you nailed the eyes pretty well.

Other than the previously mentioned head chopping, tight framing and the horizontal orientation (Vertical would have been much more appropriate for this shot, since you seem insistent on filling the frame tightly)... there is not much else to say!

There are some strange artifacts on the background, that make it look like you either touched it up, or added it in Photoshop... but it does look like a well lit white background. There are obviously some areas in her hair that are slightly less white than the 255 255 255 of the rest of it. Did you touch it up to make it whiter?

HI Charlie

thanks for some great feedback........you are correct they lighting was esentially the same in all these shots - as my main aim was actually getting the lighting to what i saw as an acceptable level......number 2 as above was taken without the reflector that i placed to her left in the other shots so what you say makes sense.

Im not 100% clear on where you are seeing the artifacts (perhaps you could mark up an image so i can see)......certainly in one or two shots (not all but certainly a couple) i didnt allow enough time for the flash on the background - image left - to recharge before taking a shot so there was some shadowing on the background that i did touch up - perhaps this explains what you are seeing..

thanks again for taking the time to give me some feedback

Look LOW camera right... right next to the edge of the photo at her sweater.. some shadow you missed... that is what I was referring to..
