Aaaarg....I misunderstood my new lights

Well...I was excited to receive my new lights in the mail and I finally did. I bought 2 Elinchrom D-lite IT 4 and 2 Elinchrom D-Lite IT 2 along with the Skyport Speed transceiver on the basis that I could trigger and adjust all the lights from the skyport. Well unfortunately I mis-read the description and it will work to trigger them, but it won't work to adjust the lights. So now I'm debating whether its worth it or not to return these and get the RX models that will allow that. BUT....it will be close to another $2,000 for that upgrade. I'm wondering.....is it really worth that to not have to go over to the lights and push a button? It's not about being lazy, but about not having to interrupt the flow of the photo session and go adjust it. Plus it would be nice during weddings where I will sometimes have the light higher up in the air and it would allow me to not have to constantly bring it down to tweak it.

Any thoughts?

OK problem solved...I'm going with the BX 500 Ri lights since they are a little more powerful and have the controls built in for Skyport. It's about $1,000 more and I will have these for a good long time so I think it's worth it! Crisis averted

Even $1000 seems like a lot, just for the ability to remotely control the power. Maybe a good investment over the life of them, but still...ouch.

I often work with a remote strobe in a wedding reception type scenario. I control the exposure simply by adjusting the aperture and/or ISO. No need to change anything on the strobe itself.

Yeah $1,000 is a chunk of change that's for sure. But it would be over the life of them. I've had a cheap pair of square perfect 75 W/s heads for the past 3 years and I'm really wanting something that is perfect, even if it's a bit pricey. My current square perfect ones are sometimes inconsistent with the amount of light they put out. But you get what you pay for and they were CHEAP!

Yeah for sure, I've been doing that as well with the aperture and ISO too thus far but it will be nice to have the option to do both.
