Looks like a cool place to explore. I wonder is a mono conversion would work on 1.

The second poses many questions which makes it interesting imo.

Thanks! It may be ok in monochrome, but personally I really like the colour in this one. I have been considering cloning out the bright spot, I'm not sure if it adds interest or is a distraction.
I will have to try it out. I will give the monochrome a shot as well :)

I disagree about monochrome. I think the story of this photo is all about the color.

First, age is more effectively conveyed by seeing such a bright color contrasted with scrapes and dents and dirt. Something doesn't look older just because it's in black and white.

Also, a good black and white image is really about lines, patterns, texture - very graphical elements. There aren't really that many in this photo. I think you end up losing a lot of the interesting details of the subtle color variations on the door and in the dirt. In black and white, the textures of the photo are going to blend together too much, unless it's processed with a level of contrast that may end up looking way overdone. Monchrome would also highlight the line of the doors and the bright spot, which aren't really the most interesting elements of the photo.

Thanks, a pic in mono would be nice and since we all have different ideas about things we can decide for ourselves which gives the impression of looking older.

My redo.

As requested, a black and white version.

This image is all about the colour for me. My images are OK to edit, so if you think a different conversion would be better feel free :)

I LOVE the redo and the color is wonderful, I much prefer the color vs. the B&W version. In the initial image, I thought about removing the light as well and glad you agreed. Nice shot!

I like them both and maybe the word age was the wrong word ... now I'm thinking worn may've been more appropriate because dirt, scratches don't necessarily denote age and they show up more easily against the blue.
