Cool find! I have no idea what was around there but, if this is near by, I would try a bunch of different shots that accentuate the sense of abandonment better.
Maybe use a wider lens (35mm on DX is more normal). Not sure all that white sky is helping you out much either. B&W conversion seems fine. I would have gone for more contrast, but that's my own thing.
