I bought a D300 earlier this week and anxiously awaited going out and shooting. My buddy and I headed out to a local lake where there are suppose to be Bald Eagles this time of year. Well talking to park rangers, the closest we could get was 1/4 mile. My 70-300mm isn't going to reach that far so we headed off on a trip 1.5 hours away to Turner Falls, OK.

We got there and of course in winter everything was brown. Also we overlooked the lack of rainfall. So we ended up paying $10 to get into a park that was brown with next to no waterfall. I only came away with one shot that is anywhere decent.

This is my first shot at HDR. I tried to not overdue it and make it look like a painting. It was composed of 9 shots handheld (I had a tripod, but didn't pull it out).
