I am about to go on Vacation to New Orleans and then on Gatlinburg, TN. I only have a tripod, T3i, 18-55 lens, 55-250 lens, two batteries, three SD cards. I plan on shooting architecture/buildings, landscapes, swamps etc in LA and the same thing in Gatlinburg except it will be mountains instead of swamps. I have read and thoroughly enjoyed "Understanding Exposure" and "Learning to See Creatively." I was wondering if there were any beginner books/resources that would help me with the above types of shots? Also, any personal reccomendations from you guys on AP settings for the above? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Don't have a lot of recommendations for books, but Cambridge in Colour has some excellent tutorials. The one glaring omission I see from your gear list is a polarizing filter. These are invaluable for outdoor shooting, especially for enhancing sky/cloud contrast and eliminating reflections on non-metallic surfaces (water, glass).

I actually do have a cheap circular polarizing filter. I also have a UV filter I leave on as a lens protector. I will have to go out the next few days and practice using it. I have that Cambridge in Colour website bookmarked. Time to head over there and take a better look. Thank you for the info!
