Action and tow?

So, I asked this girl how she gets her pictures to turn out the way they do - she does beautiful/classy boudoir photography.. very crisp, clear, bright and flawless anywho, she told me the lenses she usually uses (35mm 1.8 & 24-70mm 2.8). She said for the vintag-y feel, she runs action or tow.. what does that mean? Are those settings on the camera or something used in photoshop? I have no idea what that means..

Photoshop actions are pre-recorded editing steps. I have no idea what a tow is.

While Photoshop Elements can run actions, actions cannot be recorded using Elements. Actions that use features Elements lacks won't work.

Hmm.. can't say I understand that at all since I really know nothing about it, but thanks anyway.. maybe the 'tow' was a typo.. who knows. Oh well.

My guess, she meant to type that she 'runs an action or two'...

In laymen's terms, she uses a decent lens to start with, and then does her processing in photoshop. My guess, the 'look' that you admire is photoshop.

(You might find them also for Lightroom, where the name is preset. Not the same as actions, but for vintage effects is the same)

Of course, using ready-made actions/presets will give some fashioned look to your pictures, but will also be "standard", the same as many others.
