Action cam

Hi guys,

I am having trouble buying gear for an upcoming skiing trip.

I have always been the photographer amongst my friends and would love to film the entire trip. Usually we end up with a couple of great photo’s but filming it would a new dimension.

I am looking at buying an action camera. After doing some research I am horrified by the quality. The only filming I currently do are timelapses. At full 24MP RAW. Which is a dream to edit on. Obviously the actions cameras are an enormous step down. I mean in terms of quality the video they produce is worse than my cellphone. (A Note 3 which shoots 100mbs 4K)

After comparing products I realized that they were all ****. I am looking at buying a Sony AS-15 because it is a quarter of the price of the GoPros and not that much worse.

Do you guys think this a good idea?

I am also wondering whether there is a way to mount the cam on your DSLR without losing the hot shoe for a speedlight.
