Adjust White Balance in Camera or not?

Should we adjust white balance in camera or should we let it be neutral and adjust it later in post-processing (if we have time to post-process and we are shooting JPEG)?

If you're shooting JPEGs, you don't have much leeway to correct WB in post. You may get away with being off just a little, but if you shoot under the bright sun and the camera is set for incandescent, you're gonna be real mad at yourself.

If you're shooting RAW, you can adjust it to you hearts' content in post.

If you shoot RAW+JPEG, then you would want to get it right in-camera so the JPEGs are correct.

JPEGs don't offer the WB adjustment lattitude in post-processing. You can change them a little, but not much.

If you are shooting JPEG you should have your white balance as close as possible in camera. With JPEG you can only do so much in PP to fix the WB. If you are shooting RAW it doesn't matter as much since you can change the WB in PP. With RAW you have the option to change the WB to AUTO, CLOUDY, DAYLIGHT, SHADE, TUNGSTEN, FLORESCENT, and a custom setting. With JPEG you can choose AS SHOT, AUTO, CUSTOM or you can play around with levels trying to get the white balance correct.

Suggest you consider your post processing options if you are using words like "if we have time" and "shooting jpeg". Why throw away much of what makes your camera superior to the point and shoots? Shoot RAW and the entire thing doesn't matter.

8GB SD card costs about 10 EUR here in Slovakia, class 10. You can afford a camera (probably some other lenses if it is a dslr, accessories etc.), but you have a problem to buy an extra card? Come on. You're wasting a potential of your camera.
