Help with missing photos during a night lapse

Hey all, I am somewhat new to night time lapses and have a strange question: Last night I shot a long nightlapse on my Sony a7siii, I set everything perfectly, had the shots set to the max (9999 possible photos) and plugged the camera into an external battery bank to extend the shooting time. Shooting started at 8pm, and I checked on the camera at roughly 2am and it was still shooting frames... However, when I brought the camera in this morning and processed the images, the shots stopped at 11:55p, and only 900 +/- images were on the card. They are not being stored in any other location, the drive was not even close to full, but the camera battery was dead. So, in summery, the camera shot images from roughly 8pm to just before midnight, despite me seeing the camera still shooting at roughly 2am, meaning that about half the images are gone... Any suggestions or thoughts from anyone? Thanks!!

Hey Cpt. Cook. Welcome to the forum. Can you tell us a bit more about the settings on your camera like...is there a setting for 'allow external battery usage'? I have a Soiny a6600 and it does have this setting and won't allow the usage of the external battery without this setting turned on. Have you done time lapses before? Were you using auto exposure or manual? What was the interval of shots set to?

Edit - I checked my new camera, Sony a7RV, and it has a setting called' USB power Supply' found by going to Menu - Setup - USB -USB Power Supply. As I understand it this setting must be turned on when using the USB-C port on your camera for external power supply.
