Adobe CC Prices Skyrocket

Now I get it. I've been paying 19.99 a month since I signed up a couple years ago, so yeah, no price increase for me, yet.

I wouldn't laugh to much, according to their website they're $69.99 for Photo 2 only, that's 59% of the price of Adobe's one year plan. The Adobe plan includes Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge, AI generated fill, and AI image, plus regular updates and 20GB online storage. Affinity is a one time perpetual license for Photo2 only, with upgrades extra. Without the upgrades "perpetual licenses" eventually become obsolete due to hardware and operating system improvements.

Despite their size, and the cost involved, I will give Adobe credit for having good live customer service. Anytime over the years I've had a problem, I can call, be connected to a live, knowledgeable person that quickly resolves my issue.

Unless you have a compelling reason to stay with Adobe, have a look at On1 or Exposure 7. Both have sophisticated masking and many more of the most important PS/LR features. In fact, E7 is almost an exact knockoff of LR with just enough changes to avoid infringement. If you are versant with Lightroom, both of these have a fast learning curve.

Both have non-destructive layers, are Catalog free, have an extensive array of creative presets, RAW editors, keywords, collections, smart collections, have PS/LR plug-in capabilities, etc.

Both can be purchased. On1 is aggressive about creating new versions each year which they charge for. You can skip every other year and not miss anything. E7 offers new versions when they get around to it.

Smoke, I've been running Affinity for about 6 years, and I've NEVER NEEDED to upgrade. Upgrade is just an Adobe marketing ploy. And I've never needed phone backup, the Affinity online forum answers any questions you need answered. BTW, I'm no newbie, I used Photoshop professionally every day for many years, so I'm aware of what goes on.

Several of the Photoshop upgrades over the years have been extremely useful to me, and many of the upgraded and new features have been implemented into my daily professional workflow. You can laugh all you want, but from where I'm standing these upgrades have significantly improved my productivity and income. I'll happily pay the increased cost, though I wont have to since I'll be paying annually which keeps my price at $120 per year ($10 per month, less than the cost of two coffee drinks at a cafe), which is nothing compared to what I earn every month with Photoshop being such a big part of my workflow.

I get A$431.88 per annum. Thats US$282.05. (much more than your $120). And I want MY data on MY hard drive not the 'cloud'. All I will say, everything I've had to do with Adobe, I've felt ripped off. And I don't want to feel beholden to my software provider.

I rarely do paid work anymore, but if I did Bridge, Lightroom and Photoshop would still be my workflow. At 119.99/year for all three, I'll continue with them even as as a hobby. All the upgrades this year alone are worth more than what they charge yearly. Now had they upped the price to what I first thought it was going to be then I might have reconsidered.

One thing not mentioned is that all the latest greatest upgrades rely heavily on the GPU. I can't speak for other software or other GPUs, but Nividia and Adobe seem to be working hand in hand. When Adobe comes out with an upgrade, Nividia is right there with one.

????????. Not sure where you're going with this. In the US the plan for the desktop BR, LR, & PS with AI generative, 20gb of online storage, and LR mobile, is $119.99 plus tax if paid annually. Are you saying the price is higher in your country?

You can store your image and work online if you choose, but you aren't required to. I have about 15TB of local storage where I keep all my data. I occasional use the online storage to upload work on LR mobile if I'm traveling and then sync to my desktop when I return.

I can't speak for Nvidia, but my Apple M1 Pro Chip hasn't skipped a beat with any of the upgrades either. And I completely agree, the upgrades in the last year have been really amazing and worth every cent.

I switched from Adobe to ON1 Photo Raw 2025 and did not regret the switch.
Fantastic customer support, excellent software.

Got rid of P-Shop last year. If I need it I can use it at work during lunch. Just dumped Netflix as well, it went up to $18 a month. That's OK I have enough VHS, DVD and Blu-ray to last several life times.
