Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop.

The above message is coming when i am opening .psd file in Adobe Photoshop CC.
Does anyone know what could have caused this error and how to open .psd file?

This could be caused by:

a) The file is not really a PSD file but is rather some other format with an incorrect .psd extension.
b) A corrupt PSD file.

You could try the menu option Open As and select the file's correct format assuming option a).

What you could try, is to open the file with GIMP and then save it again. GIMP is free, so could be worth the try.

I'd try changing the file extension with RENAME to jpg and/or tif and see if that helps. Also I would try opening the file with other programs like Windows Photo Viewer.
If no help then consider the file corrupted and try corrupted file software.
