Advice on D70 upgrade

Hi all.

I have an ageing Nikon D70 that is due to be retired. However looking through the Nikon product line I'm confused as to which is the modern day equivalent. 7000 series?, 600? 800?

Hmmmm...tough to say what the mnodern "equivalent" is for the D70....I still have my D70....it was Nikon';s first sub-$1,000 d-slr camera, anbd was aimed at soert of serious enthusdiasts AND pro shoioters, back in the era when 6-million pixles was "hot stuff"!!!

It also has an in-body focus motor, a good battery, pop-up flash, and the ability to sync flash at VERY high shutterm speeds, and it has a CCD imager...it is actually a decernt camera for its era.

Just because the D70 has the in-camera focusing motor, I would have to say the current comparable model would be the D7100 or D7200...but in terms oif image quality, ANY of the more-recent 24-million pixel cameras will be an upgrade in terms of dynamic range. Tahe viewfinder on the D70 is decetn, but not outstanding; in that respect, the opentamirror D3xxx and D5xxx bodies are not as nice as the D70 viewfinder-wise--BUT they also have MUCH bigger,m better rear LCD screens.

SO, yeah, the 7000-series models woukld be the comparable models I guess, in most ways.,

right now, everything is an upgrade from a D70.
the Modern day equiv is the D7200. The D7500 is slightly better.
