Some of the images I took today. The coloured locust (don't know its real name, Internet too slow to look it up. T.I.A. (this is Africa)) is, I guess poisonous, cause I used to have a pet Bush-baby and he wouldn't eat them.
The other two are of a green tree viper.
Let me know, if you want to, what I did wrong or right (if anything).
Thanks for looking.

I wouldn't want to eat him either!! Kind of scary looking. Nice photos!

Nice images, you will make it easier for folks to comment on them if you number your images - that way they don't have to flip back and forth to make sure they have the right one that they are commenting on. Thanks.

On the coloured locust, it is actually a grasshopper, known as the variegated grasshopper, they come in various colour variations, one of which you have captured here - grasshoppers become locusts when they swarm together and travel in the huges swarms that we see in nature videos. (You piqued my interest, so I just had to know about this thing.) I don't know if they are poisonous, but often, in nature, things that are "edible" will often adopt weird colour paterns or weird shapes in an attempt to fend off predators.

On the tree viper, I like the second one best as the animal is all in focus. Not sure how I feel about the first one as it is not all in focus.

My 0.02¢ FWIW.

Thanks Jaxx419.
@ WesternGuy; thanks for the comment. I just thought that 'grasshopper' sounds so cheap. I have a lot to learn as you can see.
I'll number my images next time.
Thanks again.

Locust is very pretty! The Viper blends too well with his background, as he should but it doesn't pop as a result.

I think it is an interesting background choice for the A. squamageria. I think it shows the camouflage nicely. If you can reshoot it I would like to see a tighter frame.

I much prefer the 1st of the two Grasshopper pictures. A much better composition. the head on shot just doesn't come close to showing off the colors and various features like the wings. As for the Green Tree Viper, picture #2 is the stronger composition of the two. It would be just that much stronger if you didn't clip it's body on both sides.

Here you go Joel.

It takes forever to load them on photobucket but your comment made me download another pic.
It is a different shot. The 4# pic isn't a crop of this one. I just liked the closer view of the head on the 4# one.
Thanks for the comment though. I was debating which one I should post. If it wasn't for the slow internet-connection I would've posted both.

cheers

I like the resubmit

Rick, I really like the last one you posted - its all in focus and the guy sorta pops from the background.

BTW; why are the images I post so incredible huge??
Is there something I did wrong?
