Pretty nice photo, however I feel like it lacks a subject. I think moving a little closer to the water and using it as a subject would have made this picture better. But overall, you nailed the exposure and the photo is sharp!

I agree with nmasters - the image lacks any obvious subject. I see the bird (Canada Goose?) and I wonder if it could have been used as an anchor in the image's foreground - don't know - just a thought - maybe it would have flown away by the time you got it lined up :mrgreen: .

What does "has no subject" mean exactly? It doesn't have some neanderthalian composition with clearly labeled hierarchal elements?

In my opinion, and referring to this specific photo, it means that the image would stand out more with some kind of interesting subject.
I get your point though, that not all photos have to be the typical "rule of thirds" kind of photo.

Thanks for the responses. I got a few shots in which the geese were more prominent, but they did not turn out very well.

It's a good photo to me. It is sharp and the colors are good. To me it says this is a peaceful place that I would want to visit.
