This is my first real experiment with black and white. I always liked the photo, but the issue was too much brown that I wasn't sure how to correct (brown dirt, brown mountains). Converting it to black and white (seems to) correct the issue... what do you think?

The composition needs help somehow.

Maybe try a filter to accentuate the clouds or something.

Try some different filters anyway.
