More battery trouble, but at least I got one this time. Ugh. I got a late start getting to a good spot anyways, and the color was gone almost instantly.

D800 with flaky batteries and a dumbass photog who never charges them, Tokina AT-X 16-28mm @ 16mm, f11, and 1/3 s.

Sunset in this case, although fortunately this time of year, they are both over water. The horizon line is just over a sandbar to Long Island Sound. I'm sure it was incredible on the otherside, but it's a bit of a hike to get from any of the parking to over the dunes, and I didn't leave the house until I saw it start.

Wow! Stunning sky, very unique looking. I’ve been there and can sympathize as far as racing out the door when I see the makings of a good sky at sunset. Did you know there’s an app that predicts where/when for sunrise/sunset color. It’s called Sky Fire and it’s a paid add on to The Photographer's Ephemeris app for iPhone?

I'll be buying the app and the add-on. I needed probably an extra 30 minutes last night to get into a better position. It'll be worth it, and the best sunrise/sunset season is here in SNE.
