i like them all ...

however, the halos in the first one both me ... and so does the empty space in the last one.

IMHO empty space adds to an image if it creates something in you mind. However here it does not increase tension, it just gives the image imbalance. This could look all very different though, if the clouds had more structure (polariser or photoshop).
