Alternative Photo Backdrops - Where do you go?

Hi All,
Looking to get a small variety of backdrops for shooting children. Could be blankets or material that has soft textures, was thinking of going to the local fabric store. Anywhere else you can think that would be cheaper than buying "Real" photography backdrops?
