It looks a little bit flat and dark though when looking at the histogram. The lighting in the photo really seems like it would be more suited to a brighter processing.

Hmm... I was going for a softer, more dreamy look with this one, but your edit has possibilities too.

Unfortunately the treatment looked (to me) to be more a mistake or lighting/exposure issues. So, it didn't quite work for me.

I think it's because, with the current treatment, the lighting seems kind of flat. It's not really flat though, because there are soft shadows on the cheeks and under her chin.

And the background is very dark, which I don't think works for the look you were going for. Maybe a brighter exposure on the background, or use a single background light right behind her to cause a vignette around the edges.

Just my thoughts. I'm not very good at assessing softer photos (I just love that contrast) so....

aaaaaaactually, I just realized I was viewing this on my craptastic monitor. I moved it. It's better. Not so much underexposed as not having a very big range of contrast, which I think is what rex is saying.
