Decided to take a ride to the airport the other day and photograph some planes since I haven't really done much shooting in the past year or so. There wasn't a lot of passenger air traffic that day, but I did get to see some military stuff since this airport is also home to the Vermont Air National Guard and the Green Mountain Boys with their F-16's

These are not my greatest shots ever as I was experimenting with different things. I've posted the lens and settings for anyone that's interested. All shots were with my D7000

1. Aircraft one of a flight of four on his takeoff roll. Taken with my Tamron 70-300 VC at 300mm, 1/640 @ f/8.

2. Aircraft no. 2 starting his takeoff roll. Taken also with the Tamron 70-300 VC at 300mm, 1/500 @ f/8.

3. Aircraft no. 4 taking off. Taken with my Tokina ATX Pro 300mm f/4 with a Kenko 1.4x Teleconverter @420mm, 1/800 at f/8.

4. Aircraft no. 4 about two seconds later retracting his gear. Same setup of course as photo no. 3.

5. A C130 from New York coming in for a landing with snow ski's fitted. Taken with the Tokina 300mm f/4 and 1.4 TC, 1/100 @ f/16. (Photo's 6 and 7 done with same setup.)

Very nice! The prop blur in the buff is on point and the crop of the bottom one really gives perspective of how massive they are. Really well done.

Great day to be at the airstrip! That AC130 is enormous!

Thank you for the wonderful comments everyone.

I haven't used my camera much at all since becoming unemployed back in January of 2013 as I've been looking hard for work and life in general was had me in an emotional hole that I didn't think I was going to get out of. It felt good to just drop everything and get out for a few hours to go shoot again.

Good photos. Soooo cool to see the snow skis on that big bird!
