This is Ethan, my eldest son. He's a natural, which makes my job a lot easier.

My daughter could probably make the mic break away for real, as she has a high pitch scream, which makes your ear drums vibrate.

Thanks everyone.The effect was done by selecting the mic, duplicating it and moving it slightly. I then added a mask a brushed the area i wanted visable. I then added musical notes (A musical font downloaded free), added layer styles and free transformed them. Hope it makes sense. If you need anymore help just ask
