So anyway, after the swamp scene.........when I got to my blind, some 1.5 miles back there.
I kinda got what I was going after.
The female zipped by like a lightening bolt...........the male landed right in front of me.
It was a wild day..............non-zoo shots.
Non - park shots.

So anywho, I couldn't move after I fired off at the female as she was coming through. I thought she was gonna splash down. but she kept on going like a bat out of hell.
The male for some reason was lagging her. I thought they were both females as they came in. They came in high, and went low. And I mean right on me. Couldn't believe it.
The male was trailing her some 25-30 yards back. She kept going and he splashed. I wish I could have got that. After I shot the ole girl, I just froze. I knew if I moved that he'd light up like a Christmas tree.
The male was looking right at me and never saw me. He came closer and closer. And as you can see was staring right at me the whole time. Fired on him with a burst, he must have heard it or sensed me.........1 shot fired, freggin sd card FULL.

GIANT FACE PALM.

There's always tomorrow. Such is life. I am however bummed about that.
Worthy of note..........Grey skies, not much light to saturate the event.
Still messing around with PP.

Anyone out there?
I think I'm too strong on the vignetting on the second one.

I like the first one, the second one doesn't seem as sharp and just average. I'm on my laptop so it may be that but first one looks great.

No it's not the laptop............you're right.
I'm disappointed in the second one. It was rush rush and don't move. Exposure didn't come out like I intended in the second one. To my eyes, it's slightly out of focus.
Hell the bird in flight looks more sharp to me. I BLEW IT!

Both are ever so slightly out of focus. If the focus was spot on, I would really like the first one.

I would agree on 2 .

I totally disagree on 1
Though there may be a difference in vision, or monitors, or both.
The dreary lighting didn't do me any favors either. The female was farther out than the male and I really don't have the right lens for this.
Shot it with a 200mm tammy. I really need about 500mm for this kind of work. So you may have a valid point there too.

And thanks.

The head in #1 is either out of focus or there is motion blur.

Maybe I need glasses. It looks pretty sharp to me on my end. On the other hand, it was a shot out of the reasonable range of the lens I was using. So it is cropped.
The male...came in on top of me nearly.....I don't know what happened, unless my lens is backfocusing. I'll be checking that out later on.

I'd be pretty happy with number 1, harsh crowd.

Yeah , I am, but I also figured out the problem. See I just got the K5 a few days ago.
I "thought" I had my settings spot on. Come to find out, there is a neato little feature that Pentax incorporates termed " catch in focus"
Thus explaining why my bursts were coming out like shyt. It was turned off. Basically number one is a hand held shot with no aid from the camera on focus.
So everyones points are fairly valid.

I can live with number 1 , but I can guarantee that things will get better.
Thanks everyone.

If not for you guys, I would have continued to overlook the problem.
