Not a shot of the whole bird of course and his face is in shadow but I liked that it shows his environment and of course prey.

I'm just going to take the opportunity to mention for the birders here that Colombia "won" Global Big Day this year with 1,486 species reported (according to Revista SEMANA). Peru was next followed by Ecuador. The high count was due in small part at least to the fact that it is safer now than it used to be and riders can go places they couldn't ten or even five years ago. Of course in Colombia there's usually a glitch. The Minister of Commerce, María Claudia Lacouture posted congratulations on social media with an image of a bird endemic to India. She changed it later to a Golden-headed Manakin.

Nice shot someday i would like to visit Colombia is it a nice place for birding? re there any animals that pose a real danger?

Well captured.

Thank you . Zombie yes it is spectacular for birding and well there are some poisonous snakes that are pretty potent but unless you're really out there you're lucky to ever see one.

Is there something you could wear to protect you?

For snakes the high rubber boots.

Colombia is a good place for wildlife although I am not an expert on whether other places are better - but this album is from 2 hours in an urban park in Cali - as you can see the birds are really interesting.
Parque de las Garzas Cali Birds

A lot of the locals are really scared of snakes but the risk is really low. Before I went to Yopal I was told by a friend, that I would get eaten by an anaconda if I went there, so when I got back I sent her a message in my wife's name that I had been eaten.
I think the best time to go is January to March but it varies a bit. If you go get the bird watching guide to Colombia.

I like the fact that you showed the beautiful bird as it would probably be seen in the wild. Rarely do we get an animal that will pose for us in perfect lighting. You are a great ambassador for your country's amazing and interesting creatures. Nice work!

You got a Grayish Picolet...nice endemic!
