Typically, I like animal shots to be in color, so one can see the naturalist aspect of the animal. This shot however, is extremely effective. I think the fact you put it in Black and White really created a mood, which makes this shot so strong.

Thank you both! I really did like the black and white much more than the color. I'm starting to really enjoy shooting in B&W i find that it adds more drama and emotion to a picture. It really depends though on the subject and shot.
