Another Annoying Commercial

Normally I am not bugged by commercials...

Has anyone seen the latest Microsoft (I guess its for Microsoft) commercial? A lady is taking family portraits of which none are acceptable. She clicks a button and a hidden computer emerges and low and behold! "The CLOUD"

Now all her worries are gone. The poor photos she took can now all be magically merged together to form the perfect photograph with what is shown as nothing more then the dragging of the mouse.

Just seems to be a knock on photography and doing it right the first time. Not to mention as much as I love computers I am still a skeptic for that kind of automation. I guess I am just saying I would still cast my vote for John Henry so to speak.

What are your thoughts on this?

Meh the average person already knows that photoshop is all the magic behind modern photography so microsoft is just playing on that mentality. It's rather like how if you get into any specific area of interest you quickly find that common understandings and media based viewpoints are often distorted or plain wrong (for example average Joe's consider Steven Hawking to be "the" black hole guy even though many of his research has been questioned, disproved and the fact that there are other black hole researchers who - in the field - are just as and more respected).

I just don't like the fact that she says it gives her the family that nature never could. Staged family portraits are boring, they really need to have character in them. I don't really know how to articulate it, but its a very superficial concept.

I see your point Overread - There is probably someone or something for every interest out there. And probably the more that interest becomes popular the more distorted it becomes.

Greasy - The poor husbands facial expression at the end says it it all. What should we be more proud of our family or the portraits of our family?
