The light is harsh, shadows are harsh, and she looks like she's not totally in focus...

If you are going to use natural light outdoors, you either need to use reflectors or a flash to give fill light so you don't have the harsh shadows...

Another tip for outdoor natural light. Shoot within 3 hours of sun rise and within 2 hours of sunset.

I think composition wise, its cool. very simple.. one thing you should had been avoiding is cutting joints and if you could have just captured only the frame of the door with the subject in it, it would be nicer. It has the element of a good photo but you know, we make mistakes. If you ask me if how would i compose this.. I'll shoot on a portrait manner just putting the frame of the door exactly at frame of the camera.. ask your subject to slightly look at the camera to get that beautiful rembrant lighting.. The PP to black and white was in my opinion took a lot from the original photo. i found the original photo better with a little bit softer lighting than the PP one. but yeah, jeffielove is right.. getting a reflector or a flash for fill may have been better but you know, you have a basic single light source so in my opinion.. try it again with just the same lighting without fill, on a portrait manner and more tighter shot.. :)

Thank you guys! Im going to try it again!

Well that's just my opinion coming from a newbie from this forum ;) have fun shooting!
