Another edit c&c please.

Ok so i took photo number one in auto mode about a week ago and decided to try and edit it by fixing the background, cropping and fixing the feedback from the light in my cats eyes as seen in photo number two.

Is my work getting better or am i just doing things wrong altogether?

looks grey and white in the first one. second one he almost looks brown and an off white. color just seems all off in the edited pic.
