After some great advice and a little reading, tried the white egret again. This time, paying attention to the histogram. A bit better I think. Comment's welcome.

Man, that's a tough subject. I think you did a pretty good job, though.
I don't care for #1 flying away...you missed the shot already, like a hunter firing the 3rd shell.
#2 has a similarly toned background, it just doesn't pop to me.
3,4,5 are your better shots.

Wow looks like my little tips helped out immensely! Much better job of controlling the whites!

Totally agree on 1 and 2, more of a hey its more properly exposed pic more than anything. Thanks for the comments!

Thank you kind sir..... I do listen on occasion. Contrary to what my wife says. Lol

Sorry for being a little critical. The white feathers on the Snow Egrets are lack of details... Too much noise reduction? I have noticed that you can recover some details by dropping down the highlight on post processing...

Wackii, I have no problem with critical. Its how I learn.

I like #3 the best because of the pose and the color of the water. Whites are hard to capture. #1 would have been good if flying towards you...next time tell him to stay in frame. :) (I say that to my 3yo grand daughter. :lmao: )

The composition on these are great! Nice job on metering the whites as well.

My only criticism is that all the shots seem grainy, unfocused, or low-res to me. Were these photos by chance heavily cropped and/or shot at a very high ISO, like 3200 or something?

Not heavily cropped, ISO was 400, taken at 60 feet with wind. I think the grain is from excessive sharpening or I have been resizing the because I am used to another site where they have to be small in order to post.
