Another what lens thead

Hi everyone, I am planning on getting the Cannon XSI with the 18-55mm kit lens, but I was wondering what would be a good complementary lens?

I was looking at Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens and the I was looking at this Tamron AF28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical (IF) Macro lens which looks like a good deal with the $50 rebate., right now I am looking to spend around $300.

I usually shoot nature, landscape and want to do some sports shooting(mostly mountain biking).

I think the best (cheap) companion lens for the kit lens is the 50mm F1.8. Sure, it's not a zoom but the large maximum aperture is a huge advantage when shooting portraits and especially sports/action. You could also consider one of the many 75-300mm lenses (or the 55-250mm IS). They can be OK for nature shots but it will be challenging to shoot sports with them, unless the light is really good.
