Admittedly, the temperatures aren't cold by northern standards....
But temps in the hills and at elevation (the pic is taken from about 3,500MSL and the mountains rise to 9,000MSL) can be in the 30's and 40's f., with chill factors from the wind down to 5 and 10f.
That's just too nippy for those of us who like to hike in shorts and T-shirts....
The desert covered in snow. How very, very beautiful. Sooo much more interesting to look at than our totally flat, barren (now in winter), almost snowless, foggy and grey countryside. Hard to find any colours these days!
