Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I just found this forum today and I'm looking for some opinions on my work if you wouldn't mind. All my photos are on my flickr which you can view here. Please let me know what you think about them. I've been doing photography for about a year and a half now and I've shot with my Canon 10D most of the time. At some point I had a Nikon D5000 and I hated it so much so I sold it. I plan on getting a Canon 5D when I get the change.

I'd love to hear any tips/advice you have to offer.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

If you really want feedback on your images, you'll have to post some photos directly into the forum. Keep it to only a few per thread and give us some information about the shots.

In other words, you get out what you put in. If you don't put in the effort to show us the photos, most people won't put in the effort to view or critique them.

I looked through all 12 pages of your Flickr account. Overall, what I see are lots of snapshots and straightforward "recordings" of things, with a lot of similarity between frames. Maybe the similarity is due to the lens you use...there just is not much "variety" in the majority of your images. Your lighting is very monotonous and uninteresting. On page 9, there are a few images that show some artistry, and are "more than just snapshots". A year and a half of using a camera is not very much time, and it does not appear that tou are doing much more than pointing a capable, modern d-slkr at subjects, and allowing the camera to do the work. It's difficult to put into words, and so many people gt all bent out of shape whenever they are given C&C, but your photos are, for the most part, the kind of images most people would make with a cell phone camera today, or a compact P&S ten years ago, or a Kodak Instamatic 126 25-30 years ago. You are not pushing the limits of anything--not of lighting (indoor fluorescent or on-camera flash), not of lenswork (limited focal lengths, pan focus,no selective focus), and not of composition.

My suggestion would be to pick up a fe books on photography and stuydy them, and attempt to incorporate a few elements and principles of design into your work. For example, look for repeating patters or line, or repeating anything, and try and make some photos that show the ability to work with repetition. Look for some small abstract segments of the world, and see i you can show them to us. and so on.

i guess the OP removed the link?
