Anybody been to Savanna, GA? Looking for a Spring Break vacation spot for kids...

We have a 2 year old daughter and a 9 year old daughter and I was thinking of coming down to Savannah, GA for Spring Break. Something different to do. Maybe make a couple of day trips to Hilton Head Island or to the animal refuge.

Is anybody familiar with Savannah? Good place to spring break? Suggestions on things to do and places or areas to stay are most welcome.

I'm familiar with the ATL Airport... And it suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks. However, going from 50-60 deg. Maine, to 110 deg. Georgia in August would make anyone uncomfortable in that airport.

Can't speak for Savannah, but I have plenty of friends in Georgia that have probably been there. I did however, go to Macon. If you want to preserve the life of your children, don't go there.

Used to go to Savannah quite often, back when I lived in Atlanta. My sister went to college at Georgia Southern, so we traveled down to south Georgia a good bit. I absolutely LOVE Savannah, but it's been so long, I don't know that I could recommend anything in particular--it's probably a lot different than it was last time I was there. I would however, recommend, NOT losing a contact there on your first day of a three-day stint. Back when they weren't disposables, so you didn't have another pair you could just wear instead.

This would be in March when the temps are closer to 60. We're from Texas originally so I really like the heat actually. But thanks for the comments.

LOL. One of my brothers, and several nieces and nephews live just south of Macon.

Savannah is awesome. ( So is the Atlanta Airport). Tybee Island is a nice beach. There are a lot of restaurants and activities to do around Savannah as well. Hillton Head is more young kid friendly, but there is still appeal for youth in Savannah.

Tybee is awesome. And also Skidaway Island--beautiful! Both of those also have marine centers. Back in high school, we went on a weekend field trip to Skidaway and got to do some really cool marine biology stuff down there. You might check and see what kind of public programs they have for kids.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. Tyler is just doing this thing we call "making conversation." He's not attacking all that is good and worthy about Georgia. And having lived there for over a decade...he's right about the airport.

Because I texted them and asked for their thoughts on Savannah. I'm currently awaiting reply. Why did YOU respond to this thread?

They said it seemed pretty family friendly when they were there. I told them you intended to bring young children as well and they didn't seem to have anything bad to say. Sounds like Savannah is a good choice. Have fun on your trip!
