I won't have any problem boycotting Applebees. I haven't eaten at an Applebees since they refused to let me pay for my $40 + bill with a hundred dollar bill. It was not counterfeit; it was good ol U.S.A legal tender but they didn't like to have large bills on hand and they didn't want to open a safe to get change. Since the food is marginal, at best, I've never been back. But on the subject of tipping; I do tip pretty well since I was once a server myself and know how hard it is to live on the wages alone.

I would make sure they had something in their handbook stating their guest had "privacy" rules. HIPPA is a law no way to get around it this sounds like something Applebee's made up and unless they made it clear then that person was wrongfully terminated.
