The original picture the server sent to the website actually DID show the persons name on it. The restaurant is saying the employee broke guest privacy rules. I actually side on the restaurant on this. You dont go around talking about your customers. Had it been annonymous then I see a minor reprimand perhaps but not firing. (The local stations found the pastor. The pastor said she was embarrassed.... so this does not look like a fake posting for attention.)

I didn't know the whole name showed, so that changes things a bit. That's what employee gets for being dumb then...had she kept the name out then it would be fine to me.

But the actual waitress who received the note is not the one who posted it. All the more reason this pastor should stand up for the actual waitress she stiffed out of a measly six bucks. Apparently being a pastor does not preclude one from being a rather cold-hearted human being. :razz:

According to news sources who've picked up on this:

The pastor is a she. Her church has about 15 members. The waitress who took the photo and posted it online is not the waitress who worked the table, but a coworker. There is now a "Boycott Applebees" campaign underway over it.

this just goes to show how completely overkill people can get in a short amount of time.
i still don't agree with what the pastor did, or what she wrote on the receipt....but the snowball effect that has occurred is just crazy.
where does this end now? and is there ANY scenario that ends well for either side at this point now that the media is all over it?
what if the pastor and the waitress and applebees all get together, sit down, and apologize to one another for this whole thing.
the paster can apologize for being a douche and writing that crap on the receipt, the waitress(s) involved can apologize for posting it online, and applebees can give their jobs back and we can ALL move on as adults.

i have to say...if the pastor DID call applebees and ask/demand that the waitress be fired...she is a TOTAL douche and got what she deserved by her internet detractors.
there is nothing christian about getting the waitress fired, especially after SHE admitted what she did on the bill was shamefull.
so much for leading by example and forgive and forget. good job miss church leader. way to set an example to your flock.

Wow. If she really did call and demand the waitress who posted the receipt online be fired, then SHE should also leave her position as pastor.
The waitress who posted it online complete with signature probably did step out of line, and imo should have been perhaps given a reprimand. But her behavior was not nearly as egregious, nor as morally offensive as the so-called pastor's actions.

Good plan. Also eat some salad before and after to cancel out the bad food. Science!

My grandmother LOVED her salt. She also had I don't even KNOW how many heart attacks, and was in congestive heart failure for over 25 years, but she refused to give up her salt--said she'd just as soon go on than stay here and eat bland food.
Every time she was in the hospital, she'd get me to bring her some packets of salt to put on her food--and I did. I was only called to task for it a couple of times, but my response was basically, if she wants salt, *I'm* bringin' the woman salt. If it shortens her life, it means she only lives to 93 instead of 90.
She lived to age 98...eating salted food all the way!
